Domenico Dolce Publishing First Photography Book
Domenico Dolce’s first photograph book will hit Dolce & Gabbana stores in July, and an exhibition of some of the portraits from the tome will be on display on June 24 during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. The event will be marked by a party and a live performance at the Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Metropol theater that night. The 560-page book, titled “Campioni — Fotografie by Domenico Dolce,” comprises 67 black-and-white portraits of young soccer players and will retail at about 180 euros, or $225 at current exchange.
“I strongly believe in this book. With my images I wanted to pay tribute to the strength and innocence of these players, and at the same time I wanted to realize one of my dreams: to take photographs,” said Dolce.
“In Domenico’s photos, fashion and sport meet and confront themselves,” said Gabbana. “They talk about style and male aesthetic. His images do not promote a product, they are portraits. They speak to the heart.”
Published by Rizzoli International, “Campioni” will support AriSLA, the Research Foundation for ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and be distributed in bookstores in the fall.
